Change is in the air around here lately - new job, new city, new apartment - so it seems like about the right time to refresh this site. In addition to reworking the design, I'm also migrating to a new domain (www.alexwright.org), so please update your bookmarks and RSS feeds (although the old links should work for the foreseeable future).

The other big reason for all this kerfuffle is the impending publication of my first book, Glut: Mastering Information Through the Ages, coming in June from Joseph Henry Press. I'll be posting more about the book as it gets closer to publication, but for now I hope this preview site will provide at least a taste of what it's all about. At the risk of sounding shamelessly sales-y: If you're at all disposed to pick up a copy, let me encourage you to pre-order it via Amazon.com. Pre-orders make a big difference - especially for obscure first-time authors like me - in determining how prominently books get placed in recommendations, search results and so forth. By way of incentive, I would be happy to sign copies for anyone who pre-orders the book (assuming we can work out the logistics).

In other news, I'm settling into my new job at the Times, figuring out where the conference rooms are, getting used to New York's most baffling elevator system, and generally starting to find my sea legs in the city again. It's good to be back.
