TimesPeople
September 22, 2008
For the past few months, I've been working with a team of NYTimes developers on TimesPeople, a new social sharing service for NYTimes.com. We just launched the service today, after a trial balloon period as a Firefox plug-in.
This is admittedly a bit of a gamble, since it's all but impossible to test this kind of social feature in any meaningful way until a large number of people can start using it. Let me acknowledge that there are still a few tweaky design issues and some obvious feature gaps (like the ability to invite your friends via e-mail), but this is, after all, a 1.0 release - and we fully expect to keep evolving it as we learn more about how people use the service.
If you'd like a snapshot of how it works, feel free to take a look at my feed. And feel free to try it out yourself.
