The challenge

Create a tool that allowed anyone to "roll your own" search engine using the Yahoo! search API.

My role

Co-founded the company and led a small design team to create the front-end user experience. Developed exploratory sketches, process flow diagrams, detailed wireframes, and worked closely with a visual designer and developer to launch the final product on a shoestring, boostrap budget.

The bottom line

Built a viable small business that turned a modest profit until Google came along with their own Custom Search product two years later (thanks, guys!) Nominated for a 2006 Webby award.
